Reel machine for welding metal flanges

At Metavan Reels, world leader in the market of metal bobbins (reels), a new Astra-Tec welding machine was put into operation. The metal flanges and cylinder are automatically welded together into a reel by means of the machine. The machine minimizes operator time and ensures that there is a smooth changeover between the different types. A fast door ensures a safe working environment, without increasing the cycle time.

Operation of the reel machine

• The flanges are inserted first.
• Then a holder rises to insert the core.
• The system then presses the center tube shut, after which the coil is already connected.
• The guns automatically drop to the preset welding positions.
• Welding takes place where the parts pass. The pattern is set in the parameters.
• The welding cloth closes automatically during welding.
• After the operator has checked the bobbin drops and continues to the welding station.
• There she is welded, while another bobbin is welded at the front.
